§ 46-26. Duties of chief of police.

It shall be the duty of the chief of police to attend the sessions of the New Iberia City Council, to obey the instructions and orders of the mayor, and to execute throughout the corporation and parish all legal orders, decrees, summons or warrants, and to enforce ordinances directed to him by the New Iberia City Council, by the mayor or by the judge of the city court holding his office in the city. He shall patrol the city and maintain its peace and quiet and perform such duties as the mayor may prescribe for him.
